General Policy

1. All classes one hour in length and will begin and end on time.

A. Remind your child to get a drink and use the bathroom before coming to Sunshine. For their safety children are not allowed to leave class until I see their parents.

B. Attendance on a regular basis is necessary for students’ progress. IF your child misses a class, it is your responsibility to find out any information that they missed. Monthly newsletters will be posted on our website. We are continually striving for high quality performances. Please encourage your child to learn the music at home and practice often.

C. Classes are not held on legal or school holidays; class will not be held on a day that a performance is scheduled. The performance replaces class that day. Classes are not open for parent viewing. The children seem to learn and progress faster without the distraction. Your child’s full attention is needed during class to learn the material and prepare for the shows.

2. We charge by the month, not by the lesson. Payment is due on the first of each month! Prices are $45 per month, and a family rate of $40 for each additional child in a family enrolled in Sunshine. There is a late fee of $10 if the payment is not received by the first class of the month. Please hand in full payment or 10 post-dated cheques and complete the registration form online. T-shirts and practice CD’s are included in the monthly fee & will be distributed quarterly.

 

*ALL CHEQUES ARE MADE PAYABLE TO SUNSHINE GENERATION. ALL CASH SHOULD BE GIVEN TO YOUR TEACHER IN AN ENVELOPE WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON IT!

*IF PAYMENTS ARE NOT RECEIVED, YOUR CHILD CAN NOT PERFORM!

 

3. Participation in performances is optional – but the most rewarding part of Sunshine! (That applause is the “pay off” to children for their efforts in class.) All performers must wear a complete Sunshine Generation costume. Parents are responsible to transport their own children to each show and they should arrive, in full costume, 30 minutes before show begins. Parents are responsible for their own children directly before and after both classes and shows!

4. Please wear your Sunshine T-shirts to class! Dance pants or tights and a body suit are acceptable. Please make sure your child is comfortable and able to move in their clothing, nothing to baggy please; no jeans! Hair should be tied back and ballet slippers MUST be worn to every class, rehearsal and performance.

 

5. Each parent must fill out the registration form online.

 

6. No gum, drinks, candy, or toys should be brought to class. We will be having lots of FUN in class, but we do not have a minute to spare to give up to rowdiness or not paying attention.

7. I realize that children change and their interests change also, and I know that your child will not be in

Sunshine forever. However, you will be charged tuition until a PARENT has notified me that a child will no longer be coming. If I am notified after the payment has gone through, no refund will be issued.

 

8. Parental input is always welcome. I am more than happy to listen to and consider any suggestion or

comments you have. I appreciate each and every one of you parents and also your support in getting the

children to class each week and to their shows. I appreciate the confidence you have placed in me. I realize that any teacher has a great impact on children, and I will strive to make that influence a very positive one!
